John Smith (interviewer): Hi Rick, how are you?

Rick Writer: Hi, I am very fine.

J S: What’s going on these days?

Rick Writer: I am going to start my M Phil American Studies from Quaid-i-Azam University.

J S: Oh great! It means you have done graduation in American Studies as well, haven’t you?

Rick Writer: Thanks. I’ve done graduation not in American studies, but in language and literature.
There, we’ve studied American literature along with British literature and linguistics.

J S: Ok. Have you got a little bit hand on research?

Rick Writer: Yeah, I started doing research and academic article writing when I entered into 5th semester. There, at UOS, I got interest in linguistics especially stylistics analysis and discourse analysis, and have done a number of research articles concerning my interest. Apart from it, I got interest further into linguistic and ideological evidences of news representation. Moreover, I’ve done a course, research project into feminist perspective, and for this I selected “Maggie: A girl of streets”, a novella by an American writer, Stephen Crane.

J S: Very nice. It means you can do work well into linguistics and literature research studies, can’t you?

Rick Writer: Of course, I can work into linguistics and Literature studies. Apart from it, there at UOS, I went through a shift and developed interest into social studies as well. As I am to pursue my M Phil into American Studies, I will be doing work on international relations especially concerning American policies. So, I can do projects into political science and IR studies.

J S: Hmmm… have you got writing experience other than the research projects?

Rick Writer: Yeah, I am currently working with Guru, and working on article and content writing.

J S: What kind of article or content writing you are doing with Guru?

Rick Writer: Writing includes a lot of variety, and the categories include like legal, business and social issues. For example, last time, I’ve done an article on “Divorce Law in Singapore”.

J S: Is it interesting…ummm… I mean you have got interest in content and article writing, haven’t you?

Rick Writer: Yeah, it’s interesting. But sometimes I get bore with the contents from the fields like medical. Because content writing and article writing is an entirely research based job, and I’ve to search, sometimes, into the fields other than of the fields I got specialization in.

J S: Then why don’t you quit the job, if you are confronting a problem?

Rick Writer: Oh no, it’s not that much issue. I can handle with little bit extra effort. And most of the time, the contents are not from the fields like that. But, still, I am seeking an opportunity where I feel comfortable and where I get a productive, a learning experience.

J S: Yeah, I do understand. We have a lot variety of categories from where you can choose relating to your specialties and interest. If we provide you a platform where you can, apart from earning and meeting your financial requirement, get intellectual growth, and where you can improve your skills and enhance your specialties, would you like to join the platform?

Rick Writer: Of course! I will join the platform because, as you mentioned, it would give me a productive, learning experience, and where I will be enhancing and polishing my skills into my interest.
